Reports of phishing scams targeting holiday booking platforms

The Consumers Association has reported 15 incidents of online fraud related to a popular holiday booking platform within the last three to four days. According to legal officer Virginia Christou, scammers are sending emails that mimic the platform's official correspondence by using its logo, email address, and specific booking details of the customers. These fraudulent messages request a payment of approximately 100 euros to confirm a reservation. Many consumers have followed these instructions, resulting in significant unauthorized charges that are not recognized by the booking platform. The Association advises the public to remain vigilant, noting that reputable platforms do not request additional payments via email or implement sudden changes to their payment procedures. Additionally, the Association has started receiving complaints regarding vacation packages that were either never executed or only partially fulfilled. Consumers are urged to report such violations and pursue their rights to compensation.
