Eirini Mourtzoukou testifies regarding the death of Panagiotakis
On April 27, 25-year-old Eirini Mourtzoukou appeared before the investigating magistrate in Amaliada to testify regarding the death of young Panagiotakis in August 2024. Mourtzoukou, who is currently in pre-trial detention for the alleged deaths of three other children, faces charges of intentional homicide. A three-member forensic committee determined that the child died of asphyxiation. During her five-hour testimony, the defendant denied responsibility, claiming she was in another room when the child became ill. She further alleged that the child's mother and grandmother pressured her to suppress details and follow a specific narrative. Conversely, the child’s mother maintains that Mourtzoukou is responsible for her son's death. The court continues to evaluate evidence from the defense regarding alternative parties potentially involved in the incident.
