Fire incidents across Cyprus on May 14
On May 14, multiple fire incidents were reported across Cyprus, including a bushfire near the Lythrodontas state forest which was brought under control within 13 minutes. In Lakatamia, a municipal garbage truck was damaged by fire at 3:40 AM near the Chaliapianon industrial area, and a club was severely damaged by a fire around 3:45 AM. Additionally, two private cars belonging to the same owner were damaged in Mesa Geitonia, Limassol, at 1:58 AM. In Kalo Chorio, Larnaca, a large fire broke out at 10:40 AM, consuming five hectares of vegetation and 100 hay bales before being contained at 12:20 PM. Separately, an abandoned restaurant at Governor's Beach caught fire on Tuesday evening, with firefighters extinguishing the blaze by 20:22. Authorities have launched investigations into the causes of all these incidents. No injuries were reported, though the property damage in several cases is extensive.
