Drug enforcement operations in Limassol and Paphos
Cypriot authorities conducted separate drug enforcement operations leading to multiple arrests. In Limassol, a 39-year-old man was arrested after police discovered approximately 331 grams of cannabis and a precision scale with drug traces at his residence. In a separate incident in Kato Paphos, police intercepted a vehicle carrying five individuals, including a 54-year-old driver and a 16-year-old female. During the Paphos stop, a 27-year-old passenger attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended with 83 grams of cocaine, 3,050 euros, and 70 British pounds. Further searches of the vehicle and occupants in Paphos yielded additional narcotics, including 183 grams of cannabis, 4 grams of cocaine, 19 grams of magic mushrooms, and methamphetamine. The Paphos District Court ordered a six-day detention for all five suspects involved in that case. Investigations by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) are ongoing in both cities. These operations are distinct from a separate case involving four individuals previously scheduled for trial in June regarding a larger drug seizure.
