Arrest warrant issued for driver involved in Larnaca motorway incident
On May 6, 2026, a 65-year-old man was injured after being carried on the windscreen of a moving car for approximately two kilometres on the Larnaca-Airport motorway. The incident occurred between the Rizoelia and Kalo Chorio roundabouts following an initial road collision where the victim approached the other vehicle to exchange insurance details. As a police patrol arrived at the scene, the driver of the second vehicle accelerated in an attempt to flee, causing the 65-year-old to end up on the windscreen. The victim eventually fell onto the road, sustaining minor injuries such as bruising and abrasions. Police have since identified the driver and secured an arrest warrant. The vehicle involved in the incident has also been located for forensic examination. The suspect faces charges including causing a road collision, leaving the scene of an accident, and negligent or reckless acts.
