Two men arrested following motorway hit-and-run incident in Larnaca
On May 6, a traffic collision occurred on the Rizoelia–Kalo Chorio motorway in Larnaca involving a 65-year-old British national. Following the crash, the 65-year-old approached the second vehicle to exchange details, at which point the driver attempted to flee as a police patrol arrived. The 65-year-old ended up on the bonnet of the moving vehicle and was carried for approximately two kilometres before falling onto the road, resulting in minor injuries. On Tuesday, the Larnaca District Court ordered a four-day remand for two suspects, a 31-year-old Greek national who rented the vehicle and a 23-year-old Greek Cypriot. While police initially detained the 31-year-old, further investigation identified the 23-year-old as the suspected driver. Authorities are investigating charges related to reckless acts, causing bodily harm, and fleeing the scene of an accident. The case is being handled by the Aradippou Police Station.
