Reports on two separate violent domestic incidents in Crete
Recent reports from Crete detail two distinct domestic violence cases. In the first incident on May 11, a 33-year-old Finnish woman reported being physically assaulted by her 38-year-old husband in a Chania hotel room in front of their four children. The suspect was arrested for domestic violence. In a separate, more severe incident on May 9 in Pantanassa, Heraklion, a 27-year-old woman was found critically injured on the road with head trauma. Police arrested her 30-year-old husband, G.I., who faces charges of attempted intentional homicide. Reports indicate the victim was injured during a vehicle incident involving their van, which contained their three children, including an infant. While the suspect claimed his wife fell from the vehicle, preliminary investigations and a child's testimony suggest he forced her out and ran her over. Authorities also noted the suspect was allegedly driving without a license and under the influence of alcohol.
