DISY concludes campaign ahead of parliamentary elections
The Democratic Rally (DISY) party, led by Annita Demetriou, has concluded its campaign for the upcoming Sunday parliamentary elections with a final rally at the Old GSP stadium in Nicosia. President Demetriou emphasized the need for a strong presence in Parliament to ensure national security, economic stability, and the implementation of essential reforms. Addressing voter fatigue and skepticism, she urged citizens to support the party to secure a responsible political future. Former President Nicos Anastasiades also intervened in the final days of the campaign, attempting to rally the party base amid lingering internal tensions following the 2023 presidential election. Polls suggest a close race for the lead, with DISY facing competition from the AKEL party. Demetriou explicitly stated that the goal of securing the most parliamentary seats is not for prestige, but to influence critical legislative decisions. The election results are expected to serve as an indicator of the party's current strength and internal cohesion.
