Police investigation report on the Sandy affair submitted to the Minister of Justice
The special police investigative team has submitted its final report concerning the allegations made by journalist Makarios Drousiotis regarding the so-called Sandy affair to Justice Minister Costas Fytiris. The investigation, which lasted approximately one and a half months and involved over 70 testimonies, concludes that the core claims presented in messages published by Drousiotis remain unsubstantiated. Specifically, police found evidence that photos and banking documents were forged or stolen from the internet, and allegations regarding employment at the Presidential Palace, foreign travel for victim protection, and the parentage of the individual known as Sandy were refuted. The only point corroborated was the transmission of a threatening message to lawyer Nikos Clerides, a matter previously reported to former Attorney General Costas Clerides. While the investigative file is being processed for submission to the Legal Service to determine potential criminal charges, the authorities are still awaiting technical findings from Europol and the FBI. Minister Fytiris has briefed President Nikos Christodoulides on the report's contents, noting that further public statements will be made only after this consultation. The investigation covers charges including conspiracy to commit felonies and computer-related forgery.
