Bird droppings impact on vehicle color choices

Studies by Alan’s Factory Outlet and Halfords have investigated the correlation between vehicle color and the frequency of bird droppings. Alan’s Factory Outlet surveyed 1,000 drivers and suggested that brown, red, and black cars are most frequently affected, while white and silver vehicles are less targeted. Conversely, a Halfords study of 1,140 vehicles identified red as the primary target at 18%, followed by blue at 14% and black at 11%. Green was identified as the safest color in the Halfords study, receiving the least attention from birds. Researchers explain these preferences by noting that birds perceive ultraviolet light differently than humans, making certain colors more stimulating or visible to them. Experts advise owners of high-risk colored vehicles to clean droppings promptly to avoid permanent damage to the car's paint and clear coat due to acidity.
