Two separate deaths confirmed in Cyprus over the weekend
Authorities in Cyprus have responded to two separate fatal incidents involving missing elderly men. In the first case, a charred body was discovered inside a burned-out vehicle near a fish farm in Liopetri on Monday morning. The vehicle is linked to a 77-year-old man from Xylofagou who had been missing since Sunday. The British Bases Police are investigating, with a post-mortem and DNA analysis scheduled for Tuesday to confirm the identity and cause of death. Separately, 78-year-old Achilleas Michail from Strovolos was found dead in a field near Praitori in the Paphos district. He had been reported missing since May 8 after traveling to the area to gather capers. His vehicle was discovered on Sunday, leading to a large-scale search involving helicopters, drones with thermal cameras, and sniffer dogs. His identity was confirmed by relatives following the discovery of his body on Monday. Both cases are currently subject to ongoing investigations to establish the exact circumstances of the deaths.
