Eight suspects arrested following armed bank robbery in Kato Tithorea
Greek authorities have arrested eight individuals in connection with an armed bank robbery that occurred on a Monday morning in Kato Tithorea. Police identified the suspects following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a dead end, during which the perpetrators were found to be carrying Kalashnikov rifles and Scorpion submachine guns. Reports indicate the group stole approximately 200,000 euros from the bank vault. While initial reports varied on the exact number of perpetrators, police confirmed the total of eight detainees. There were no injuries reported during the heist, although employees and customers were threatened by the gunmen. Some accounts mentioned that money was dropped by the robbers during their escape, while other sources inaccurately conflated this incident with a separate ATM explosion in Boeotia. Police are currently investigating potential connections between this robbery and previous incidents, such as one in Messolonghi. The suspects are being held at the General Police Directorate of Attica (GADA).
