Restoration progress at Kasta Tomb in Amphipolis

Greek Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni conducted an inspection of the Kasta Tomb in Amphipolis to review ongoing restoration efforts. The site features a full perimeter of 497 meters, with the tomb covering approximately 22 stremmata and the surrounding area an additional 30 stremmata. Officials Themistoklis Vlachoulis and Michalis Lefantzis provided updates on the project, which includes the successful recovery of the ancient perimeter and the restoration of the tomb's original geometry. Significant work has been completed on the southern side of the perimeter, spanning 105 meters using original marble elements supplemented by artificial stone. Ongoing construction involves the western sector's fortification and the installation of a new rainwater drainage network. Within the funerary monument itself, restoration of the burial chamber's arch and the reinforcement of the grave pit are now finished. Older metallic support structures have been removed, making the interior fully visible.
