EAC announces helicopter operations for power line maintenance

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has scheduled helicopter-assisted cleaning of high-voltage transmission line insulators from May 12, 2026, to June 7, 2026. This preventative maintenance is intended to minimize the risk of equipment failure and subsequent power supply interruptions. Preliminary equipment testing flights are set to take place in Kokkinotrimithia and Paliometocho between May 12 and May 14. The main maintenance schedule covers various regions across the Nicosia, Paphos, Limassol, and Larnaca districts. Operations include inspections in Latsia, Tseri, Peyia, Geroskipou, Ypsonas, Germasogeia, Mari, and Lefkara, among other locations, between May 15 and May 29. EAC noted that the schedule is subject to change depending on progress. The authority has informed the public to avoid alarm due to low-altitude helicopter flights during this period.
