Cyprus Department of Road Transport issues safety alert for several vehicle models
The Cyprus Department of Road Transport (TOM) has issued a safety warning regarding several vehicle models due to risks of injury and fire, based on data from the EU SafetyGate system during the 18th week of 2026. Vehicles identified with injury risks include Mercedes-Benz Actros and eActros trucks (manufactured between January 13, 2023, and December 23, 2025), Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse (January 19, 2024 – August 25, 2025), and Ford Capri and Explorer models (February 20, 2025 – November 10, 2025). Models flagged for fire risks include the Alfa Romeo Tonale (February 15, 2022 – February 12, 2026) and the Opel/Vauxhall Frontera (March 19, 2026 – March 21, 2026). Furthermore, various Peugeot models produced in March 2026 are affected, including 2008 V2, 3008 V3, 308 V3, 408, and 5008 V3. Citroen models C3 Aircross V3 and C5 Aircross V2, produced in March 2026, are also included in the warning. TOM has mandated that all manufacturers, importers, and distributors selling these products in Cyprus must report their inventory to the department immediately. This notice applies to both physical retailers and those operating through online or remote sales channels.
