Taxi driver disarms hostage-taker during police pursuit in Gaziantep

On Sunday afternoon in Gaziantep, Turkey, a 58-year-old taxi driver was taken hostage by a 31-year-old man named Semih T. and his 36-year-old partner, Gulbahar G. The suspects held the driver at gunpoint using a shotgun, forcing him to drive through the streets while being pursued by police. The chase began in the Araban district and concluded at the entrance of the Sehitkamil district, where traffic congestion halted the vehicle. As the 31-year-old suspect fired shots at pursuing officers from inside the taxi, the driver seized the weapon and successfully disarmed him. Police then surrounded the vehicle and arrested both suspects. The driver sustained a minor finger injury during the struggle, but is otherwise unharmed. Local footage showed civilians fleeing their vehicles during the incident.
