Lufthansa flight makes emergency landing at Athens International Airport

On Monday, May 11, Lufthansa flight 1753 from Athens to Munich returned to Athens International Airport shortly after takeoff. The pilot declared an emergency 16 minutes into the flight due to a technical indicator and an unusual odor in the rear cabin. The Airbus A321, carrying 177 passengers and 7 crew members, landed safely at 18:35. Following the landing, the crew initiated an emergency evacuation using inflatable slides. While the company stated the evacuation was a precautionary measure, passengers reported a lack of prior information, which led to panic on board. Two passengers sustained minor injuries during the evacuation and were transported to a hospital. The aircraft remains grounded for technical inspection to determine the cause of the issue.
