Legal proceedings continue in Paphos murder case

The Permanent Assize Court in Paphos has scheduled the next hearing for the murder case of 26-year-old Alexandros Antoniou for June 5, 2026. The 58-year-old defendant, who remains in custody, is accused of killing the victim outside a kiosk in Konia on November 19, 2025, using a knife. During the recent session, the prosecution presented all remaining evidentiary material, including video footage of the incident and expert reports, to the defense. The defendant had previously admitted his involvement in the incident during questioning, though he claimed it was not premeditated. The court ordered that the accused continue to be held in custody due to the severity of the charges and the flight risk. At the upcoming June hearing, the defendant is expected to enter a plea regarding the charges. The prosecution is represented by Senior Counsel Andreas Hadjikyrou, while the defense is handled by the firm of Ilias Stefanou.
