Cyprus and Greece launch cross-border electronic health service integration
Cyprus and Greece have officially launched a bilateral cross-border health data exchange system using the European MyHealth@EU infrastructure. The service recently enabled the successful processing of a Greek electronic prescription at a pharmacy in Limassol, Cyprus. In addition to pharmaceutical services, the Patient Summary (PS) service is now fully operational in both directions, allowing healthcare professionals to access core medical records of patients from the other country. This development was coordinated by the National Authority of eHealth in Cyprus and the Electronic Health and Social Security Governance (IDIKA) in Greece. These efforts are part of a broader European initiative to facilitate medical care across national borders. Currently, cross-border health services are functional in 17 European Union member states. Cyprus has established such digital health connections with 9 countries to date. The system aims to ensure continuity of care and improved safety for citizens traveling between member states.
