ELAM announces parliamentary election goals and policy priorities

ELAM party president Christos Christou stated that his party aims to secure the third position in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The party plans to nominate its own candidate for the presidency of the Cypriot Parliament. Regarding national issues, Christou identified immigration and the Cyprus problem as top priorities, expressing skepticism over progress with Turkey under current conditions. He proposed that the Republic of Cyprus should focus on strengthening international alliances. Furthermore, he highlighted economic policies, including the introduction of natural gas to lower electricity costs and the expansion of the domestic defense industry and startup ecosystem. During a review of the previous five-year term, he noted that the party's three deputies managed to pass four legislative proposals aimed at tightening immigration policies. He emphasized that expanding the party's parliamentary group is essential to exert more influence on future legislation.
