Artemis II astronauts perform water experiments in microgravity

NASA has released footage from the Artemis II mission showing crew members experimenting with water inside the Orion capsule. During their flight, which involved traveling beyond the far side of the Moon and setting a human distance record from Earth, the astronauts observed the behavior of water in a microgravity environment. The video captures a droplet forming a perfect sphere as it floats inside the cabin. Mission specialist Jeremy Hansen, for whom this mission represented his first spaceflight, is seen looking through the water sphere, which inverted his reflection due to light refraction. Hansen later retrieved the droplet using a straw before releasing it back into the cabin. NASA noted that the activity served as an educational demonstration of fluid physics for the crew. The mission successfully returned to Earth approximately one month and two days prior to the release of this footage.
