Pavlos Kontides wins the Open Croatian Sailing Championship
Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides secured first place at the Open Croatian Sailing Championship held from May 8 to May 10. The event featured over 70 boats and served as a warm-up for the European Championship starting on May 17, which will also take place in Croatia. Over the course of three days, five races were conducted. Kontides finished 6th on the first day, 19th (discarded), 1st, and 2nd on the second day, and 8th on the final day. Croatian Tonci Stipanovic placed second, followed by New Zealander George Gautrey in third. Other notable competitors included Filip Jurisic, Jonatan Vadnai, Ethan McAullay, and Zac Littlewood. Following the competition, Kontides participated in the Mornar Grad Prix Race show event. He will remain in Croatia to prepare for the upcoming European Championship.
