Cyprus under-16 track and field championships held in Larnaca

The 51st Cyprus under-16 Track and Field Championships took place on May 9 and 10, 2026, at the GSZ Stadium in Larnaca. Athletes born between 2011 and 2013 competed in various events during the weekend despite high temperatures. Marios Panagiotou recorded notable performances in the 80m sprint with a time of 8.76 seconds and the 300m race at 34.80 seconds. Sion Andrew Ogbutu of the Olympia Limassol gymnastics club achieved a new under-16 national record in the shot put with a distance of 17.77 meters. Additionally, Ogbutu secured first place in the discus throw during the competition. The event highlighted the performance of young athletes across various disciplines. Some younger participants outperformed their older peers during the championships. Coaches oversaw the event, noting the potential of the new generation of athletes.
