Greek Prime Minister meets with Cypriot House President Annita Demetriou

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus and leader of the Democratic Rally (DISY), Annita Demetriou, at the Maximos Mansion in Athens. During the meeting, both parties discussed defense and security issues, the strategic autonomy of Europe, and regional developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. Mitsotakis emphasized that Greek-Cypriot ties are currently at their strongest, noting that Greece’s past support for Cyprus served as a catalyst for broader European action regarding the sovereignty of member states. The discussion also covered the Cyprus issue, particularly in light of upcoming initiatives expected from the United Nations. Annita Demetriou thanked the Greek government for its consistent support and stated that the cooperation between Athens and Nicosia is essential for regional stability. Furthermore, both leaders addressed the ongoing collaboration between their respective political parties, New Democracy and DISY. Mitsotakis concluded the meeting by wishing Demetriou success in the upcoming Cypriot parliamentary elections.
