Primary school pupils disrupt school bus transport in Limassol

On Thursday, May 7, a school bus route in the northeastern part of the Limassol district was halted after pupils engaged in disruptive behavior. According to Petros Theocharides of the EMEL bus company, students verbally abused the driver, struck seats, moved around the vehicle while ignoring seat belt rules, and removed emergency safety hammers. Neither the bus driver nor the onboard escort could restore order, necessitating the intervention of a representative from the Department of Road Transport. The official eventually managed to calm the students after significant effort. While the school and parents were notified of the incident, some parents subsequently complained that the supervisor and driver were overly strict with the children. Previous complaints regarding this specific route had been filed by three different drivers prior to the incident. Current protocols dictate that any further disruption will lead to the suspension of the route for safety reasons.
