Famagusta Nautical Club returns to the Famagusta region after 50 years
The Famagusta Nautical Club has officially announced its return to the Famagusta district after operating from Limassol since 1974. The relocation was prompted by the Turkish invasion that took place more than five decades ago. The club will now be based at the Ayia Napa Marina, following a collaborative agreement with the marina and Pedalion Yachting. The new facilities will offer a variety of programs including open sea sailing, navigation lessons, kayaking, canoeing, and competitive sports training for both adults and children. Club president Stelios Charalambous described the move as a historic milestone that allows the organization to reconnect with its origins. Ayia Napa Marina officials, including CFO Amr El Adawy, noted that the partnership is expected to establish the region as a significant nautical sports hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The initiative aims to foster local sporting talent while integrating maritime tourism with professional nautical activities. Both the club and the marina view this transition as a major step toward regional development and infrastructure growth.
