Trial proceedings continue for the death of three-year-old Angelos in Heraklion
The trial regarding the death of a three-year-old boy named Angelos continued on May 12 in Heraklion, Crete, amidst high security and public protests. The defendants include the 27-year-old mother, her 45-year-old former partner, and the child's biological father, who faces separate charges for past abuse. According to the indictment, the child was subjected to systematic violence for at least two years, involving physical beatings with objects and cigarette burns. A pediatrician testified that the child arrived at the hospital in a deep coma and described the injuries as the most severe she had ever encountered. Following the hearing, citizens gathered outside the court to protest, directing verbal abuse at the mother. The case involves allegations of premeditated violence and documentations of abuse captured via photos and videos by the perpetrators. Legal proceedings had previously been interrupted on March 17.
