Memphis Grizzlies player Brandon Clarke passes away at 29

The Memphis Grizzlies officially announced the death of 29-year-old forward-center Brandon Clarke on Tuesday, May 12. The organization did not specify the cause of death. Clarke was born in Vancouver and was selected in the 2019 NBA Draft at number 21, playing his entire seven-year career with the Grizzlies. During his NBA tenure, he participated in over 300 games, averaging 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds. His most productive season was his rookie year (2019-2020), where he averaged 12.1 points and 5.9 rebounds. In recent years, Clarke struggled with injuries, appearing in only two games during the 2025-2026 season. Reports indicate he was arrested in Arkansas last April on charges related to reckless driving, speeding, and drug possession.
