UEFA imposes sanctions on AEK Larnaca and Shakhtar Donetsk

On May 12, UEFA announced disciplinary actions against AEK Larnaca and Shakhtar Donetsk following incidents involving fan behavior during the UEFA Conference League. AEK Larnaca received a 50,000 euro fine and a partial stadium closure for their next home European match due to illicit chanting during their round of 16 tie against Crystal Palace in March. Shakhtar Donetsk was fined 30,000 euros and handed a suspended partial stadium closure for two years regarding illicit chants and an unauthorized banner displayed during their April semi-final match held in Krakow, Poland. Additionally, Shakhtar faces a separate fine of 4,000 euros for the use of pyrotechnics by supporters. These sanctions follow events occurring throughout the competition's knockout stages. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is scheduled to face Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final on May 27 in Leipzig.
