UEFA imposes sanctions on AEK Larnaca and Shakhtar Donetsk

On May 12, UEFA announced fines and penalties for AEK Larnaca and Shakhtar Donetsk following incidents involving their fans during Conference League matches against Crystal Palace. AEK Larnaca was fined 50,000 euros and ordered to partially close its stadium for its next home UEFA match due to inappropriate chants during the Round of 16 in March. Shakhtar Donetsk received a 30,000 euro fine and a suspended two-year stadium partial closure penalty for illicit chants and a prohibited banner displayed during their semi-final match held in Krakow, Poland, in April. Furthermore, the Ukrainian club was fined an additional 4,000 euros for the use of fireworks. The UEFA governing body confirmed these disciplinary actions to address stadium conduct violations. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is set to compete against Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final on May 27 in Leipzig.
