Odysseas Michaelides discusses potential support for House of Representatives presidency
With parliamentary elections approaching, movement leader Odysseas Michaelides clarified his stance on potential support for the next president of the House of Representatives during a media appearance on May 13. Michaelides ruled out supporting Annita Dimitriou, Nikolas Papadopoulos, and Christos Christou for the role. Regarding AKEL General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou, Michaelides did not explicitly rule out support, noting that he does not consider him corrupt despite their recent public disagreement over the Vasilikos energy project. Furthermore, he expressed high regard for Irini Charalambidou, describing her as an excellent personality for the presidency. Michaelides also clarified previous comments regarding party corruption, stating he does not consider specific party leaders to be corrupt individuals, but rather characterizes political parties as systemic. He emphasized that he will not personally seek the presidency of the House to remain focused on leading his movement. Official decisions regarding support for the position have not yet been finalized by his organization.
