Series of tremors hit east of Tehran

A series of nine tremors occurred overnight near Pardis, east of Tehran, raising concerns about tectonic pressure in the region. The Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC) reported one tremor had a magnitude of 4.6, while the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences estimated the magnitude at 4.5. The epicenter was located 41 kilometers east of Tehran at a depth of 10 kilometers. Reports indicated the tremors lasted between 5 and 10 seconds and were felt near the active Mosha fault zone. Despite the unusual frequency of these events, authorities have reported no casualties or significant material damage so far. Seismologist Mehdi Zare noted that it remains unclear whether the activity releases pressure or serves as a precursor to a larger event. Experts also highlighted the city's vulnerability due to its dense urban population and proximity to multiple fault lines.
