Cyprus presents first passive residential building at international conference
An apartment building under construction in the Apostolos Andreas estate in Latsi-Yeri was showcased at the 28th International Passive House Conference in Essen, Germany. The project is part of the Cypriot government’s 'ktiZO' housing scheme and is the first residential building in Cyprus to meet passive house certification standards. Contractor Milo Ilic, owner of Passive House Ltd, presented the technical features and challenges of the construction at the event. The conference, organized by the Passive House Institute, focused on energy-efficient building design, near-zero energy consumption technologies, and sustainable urban development. Officials from the Department of Town Planning and Housing represented Cyprus at the sessions to discuss international best practices. The project utilizes advanced insulation and airtight construction methods to reduce energy consumption in alignment with European sustainability goals. The ministry of interior stated that this participation demonstrates the country's commitment to energy-efficient building standards in future government developments.
