Cyprus presents its first passive apartment building at international conference
A residential building under construction in the Apostolos Andreas government estate in the Latsi-Yeri municipality was featured at the 28th International Passive House Conference in Essen, Germany. This project, part of the Cypriot government's 'ktiZO' housing scheme, is the first in Cyprus designed to meet international passive house certification standards. The initiative emphasizes energy efficiency through high-level insulation, airtight construction, and advanced ventilation systems to minimize cooling and heating costs. Contractor Milo Ilic of Passive House Ltd presented the technical specifications and challenges of the project to global industry experts. Officials from the Cypriot Department of Town Planning and Housing attended the event to engage in sessions regarding sustainable building policies and technologies. The interior ministry stated that this participation demonstrates the nation's commitment to adopting modern, environmentally sustainable construction practices. The conference, organized by the Passive House Institute, serves as a global forum for professionals to discuss near-zero energy building design.
