Nicosia to host first annual football academies tournament focused on addiction prevention

The 1st Annual Football Academies Tournament, titled "Sports Against Addictions," will take place on May 16-17 at the Aglantzia Community Stadium in Nicosia. Organized by Argous Blue Ltd with support from the Nicosia Municipality, the event involves 80 football academies and over 1,000 children. The initiative aims to utilize sports as a tool for health education and addiction prevention. Nicosia Mayor Charalampos Prountzos stated that the event promotes mental resilience and provides positive social guidance for youth. The program is based on scientific research linking organized athletic participation to the development of healthy life habits. Additionally, the Kenthea organization will provide free online seminars for coaches under the supervision of the Cyprus Addictions Treatment Authority. The tournament also includes a reward scheme for participating athletes, teams, and staff.
