Cyprus Radio and Television Authority issues notice on election poll ban

The Cyprus Radio and Television Authority has issued a reminder regarding Article 46(1) of the Radio and Television Organizations Law 7(I)/98. This regulation prohibits the broadcast or publication of election-related opinion polls seven days prior to an election. With the upcoming elections scheduled for May 24, 2026, the final deadline for broadcasting poll results is Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 24:00. This prohibition extends to repeat broadcasts of programs containing poll data and news bulletins. The Authority mandates that all broadcast organizations comply with these legal requirements. Non-compliance may result in administrative measures and the imposition of legal sanctions. All media outlets are expected to take necessary steps to ensure full adherence to the legislation.
