ELAM leader writes to Defense Minister regarding Cypriot cadet stipends in Greece
The president of the ELAM party, Christos Christou, has sent a formal letter to the Cypriot Minister of Defense, Vasilis Palmas, concerning the financial status of Cypriot students attending Hellenic Armed Forces academies. The correspondence highlights that Cypriot cadets receive a monthly stipend of 150 euros, significantly lower than the 650 euros provided to their Greek counterparts. The letter emphasizes that rising living costs in Greece have created severe financial difficulties for these students, particularly for those renting private accommodation. It is further noted that many of these students forfeited scholarships from the State Scholarship Foundation to attend military schools. To alleviate this burden, the proposal includes a request for the reinstatement of three free round-trip air tickets per year during the Christmas, Easter, and summer periods. The party stated its expectation for a positive response from the Ministry of Defense to support these students and their families effectively.
