TratSik String Quartet to perform at Kourion Classical Music Days

The Municipality of Kourion will host the TratSik String Quartet on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 20:00 at the Ypsonas Municipal Theatre. This event is part of the Kourion Classical Music Days institution. The ensemble, formed in 2017, consists of four performers: violinists Giorgos Chatzigeorgiou and Spyros Spyrou, violist Nikolas Efthymiou, and cellist Doros Zisimos. They will perform works composed for them by seven Cypriot composers: Antis Skordis, Andreas Papapetrou, Dimitris Tsoukas, Stavros Hoplaros, Apollonas Kalamenios, Alexandros Darna, and Aris Antoniadis. The program features chamber music that blends traditional Cypriot melodies with modern classical aesthetics and techniques. The compositions were specifically commissioned for this quartet, resulting in new autonomous works where traditional melodies remain distinct while experimentations in rhythm, harmony, and tone color are applied. Admission to the concert is free.
