Cyprus mandates electronic invoicing for specific government IT contracts
The Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus has announced that electronic invoicing is now mandatory for new tenders involving IT systems, computer equipment, and digital transformation services. This requirement applies to tenders issued by the Department of Information Technology Services and the Directorate of Digital Policy and Communications. The initiative aims to reduce bureaucracy, improve transparency, and accelerate payment processing times. According to the guidelines, invoices submitted electronically are expected to be paid within 20 days of receipt or acceptance. Businesses can utilize the central government PEPPOL Access Point or the Jinius platform for submissions. Third-party platforms wishing to connect to the government's PEPPOL hub are invited to contact the Deputy Ministry. This transition is framed as part of a broader strategy for national digital transformation and economic efficiency.
