Secondary education exams update in Cyprus

End-of-year exams for high schools and technical schools in Cyprus are currently underway, involving more than 23,350 students, and are scheduled to conclude on May 25. While the process has proceeded smoothly for most subjects, students expressed concerns regarding the difficulty and clarity of the second-grade physics examination paper. In response to these complaints, the Ministry of Education met with subject inspectors and provided specific guidelines to markers to ensure fair grading. Confusion also arose regarding the 17-page answer key for the Modern Greek exam, which the Ministry clarified was intended for examiners rather than students. Meanwhile, middle school students continue classes until May 22, with their own exam period starting on May 25 and ending on June 4, involving 24,198 students. Loizos Konstantinou, head of the secondary education parents' association, confirmed that concerns were communicated to the Ministry, though no issues regarding out-of-syllabus content were reported. Additional subjects examined recently for the second grade included Economics and Theatre-Literature.
