Larnaca initiates renovation of Georgios Lykourgos municipal theatre
The Municipality of Larnaca has announced a tender for the radical renovation of the Georgios Lykourgos Municipal Theatre. This project, alongside the ongoing renovation of the Scala Theatre, is scheduled for completion before 2030, the year Larnaca will serve as the European Capital of Culture. The study for the renovation is estimated to cost approximately 400,000 euros, while the total construction budget is projected at around 2.5 million euros. Interested parties must submit their bids by June 12. The project scope includes structural and anti-seismic upgrades, energy efficiency improvements, and full accessibility for persons with reduced mobility. These modifications may result in a slight reduction of the current 399-seat capacity. Additionally, the renovation will cover all electromechanical installations, including lighting, sound, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. The project will be fully funded by the Municipality of Larnaca.
