Cypriot composer Antis Skordis wins Jaume Padros 2026 accordion composition competition

Cypriot composer Antis Skordis was awarded first prize in Category A of the Jaume Padros 2026 International Accordion Composition Competition. The event was organized by Acord Edicions in collaboration with the Mixtur Festival to mark the centenary of Catalan composer Jaume Padros Montoriol. A total of 218 composers from 48 nationalities participated in the competition. The jury, consisting of Victor Estape, Mateja Zenzerovic, Oliver Rappoport, and Oriol Saladrigues, selected Skordis after a rigorous evaluation process. As part of the prize, Skordis will be commissioned to create a new piece, which will premiere at the 2026 Mixtur Festival and be published by Acord Edicions. Antis Skordis has previously composed over 90 works, including operas, symphonic music, and chamber pieces, and has received several international awards including the Berlin Opera Prize and the Fedora Prize.
