Arrest of 32-year-old following armed robbery in Nicosia

Police arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a robbery, possession of a weapon, and assault that occurred on May 9, 2026. The victim, also a 32-year-old man, reported that he was approached by two individuals in Nicosia around 8:00 p.m. One assailant allegedly wounded the victim with a knife, while the second suspect struck him on the arm with a wooden object. After immobilizing the victim, the perpetrators stole his wallet containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was apprehended by officers from the Ledra Street substation. While most reports indicate the arrest occurred on May 12, one source suggests the arrest took place on Wednesday, May 13. The suspect is expected to appear in court for a detention hearing. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) is currently handling the investigation.
