AEK Larnaca president announces Xavi Roca return and clarifies future goals
In a press conference held this week, AEK Larnaca president Andros Karapatakis officially confirmed the return of Xavi Roca as the team's technical director for the upcoming season. Karapatakis emphasized that Roca holds full authority over the coaching staff and roster management, citing his previous success in securing European qualification. Regarding current coach Xavi Roca, the president maintained a diplomatic stance, noting that he remains under contract for the next season. The club also plans to proceed with stadium improvements, including a canopy for the east stand, VIP boxes, and a history museum. Reviewing the 2025-2026 season, the president described it as successful due to European qualification and a run to the Conference League Round of 16, despite setbacks caused by injuries. Furthermore, the club is currently evaluating player contracts, with potential departures and renewals being handled for players like Ledes, Pons, Naoum, and others. The president stressed that while the championship remains a primary goal, it should not become an obsession that overshadows the team's historical progress.
