Deputy minister of social welfare visits private elderly care homes

Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Clea Papaellina conducted field visits to various private elderly care homes in Cyprus recently. She was accompanied by the ministry’s General Director, Giannis Nikolaidis, and a representative from the Social Welfare Services. The delegation met with management staff, employees, and residents to evaluate the operational standards and quality of life within these facilities. During the meetings, facility directors presented proposals aimed at upgrading service levels to further improve residents' daily well-being. A primary topic of discussion was the government's Subsidy Plan for Accommodation and Care in Elderly Homes, which supports low-income individuals in accessing 24-hour professional care. The ministry delegation also reviewed specialized services and social activity programs currently offered by the homes. Minister Papaellina expressed her approval of the current standards of service and emphasized the importance of sustained government support for the elderly through existing grant schemes.
