Customs and drug squad seize cannabis in shipment from abroad
On May 6, 2026, officers from the Cyprus Customs Department and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) inspected a courier package arriving from a third country. The shipment, declared as containing car parts, was found to hold 4.434 kilograms of cannabis vacuum-sealed in nylon packaging. Authorities seized the substances and have launched an investigation. No individual has come forward to claim the parcel to date. Investigators noted that the sender of this package is the same person who dispatched two previous shipments containing 7.7 kilograms of cannabis. Those prior shipments were addressed to a 26-year-old man who was arrested last week by YKAN upon attempting to collect them. Unlike the previous case, the current package is addressed to a different recipient located in a separate district.
