Larnaca to host the 2026 Pan-Cyprian Special Olympics

The 2026 Pan-Cyprian Special Olympics will take place in Larnaca from May 17 to May 27. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, at Europe Square (Finikoudes) from 17:30 to 19:30. The games are held under the auspices of the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras. More than 250 athletes from across Cyprus are expected to compete in swimming, cycling, athletics, and bocce. Athletes from Special Olympics Greece will also participate in this year’s event. The competition will run from May 18 to May 27, 2026, under the slogan 'Every effort is a victory.' Dignitaries expected at the opening ceremony include Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Clea Hadjistefanou-Papaellina, who will represent the President of Cyprus, as well as members of the Cyprus Sports Organization, members of parliament, MEPs Geadis and Hadjipantelas, and Presidential Commissioner Marios Hartsiotis.
