Cyprus construction permits increased by 76.9% in January 2026

The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported a 76.9% increase in building permits issued in January 2026 compared to January 2025. A total of 789 permits were issued, up from 446 in the previous year. These permits authorize the construction of 1,755 residential units, marking a 109.4% increase in unit numbers compared to the 838 units planned in January 2025. The total value of the permits reached €445.2 million, representing a 92.9% increase. The total area covered by these permits is 346.7 thousand square meters, an increase of 82.5%. The planned development includes 329 single houses, 121 double houses, 1,248 residential apartment buildings, and 57 mixed-use buildings. These figures reflect significant growth in the construction sector during the first month of the year.
