Panathinaikos to play PAOK behind closed doors
The Permanent Committee for Combating Violence (DEAV) has officially rejected the request from Panathinaikos FC to suspend a stadium closure penalty. This ruling confirms that the team's final match at Leoforos Stadium against PAOK will proceed without spectators. The penalty of one match behind closed doors was originally imposed by the DEAV due to the use of firecrackers during a previous derby against AEK. Panathinaikos FC had filed for an urgent suspension of the decision, hoping to allow fans into the stadium for this final home game. The club stated that it has successfully identified and banned the individuals responsible for the firecrackers from future entry. Despite these efforts, the appeal was denied. Panathinaikos management has indicated that they intend to honor the legacy of their historic stadium in a formal capacity at a future date.
