Limassol Marathon hosts recognition event for volunteers and contributors
The XM Limassol Marathon held a special event to honor the volunteers, organizations, and institutional representatives who contributed to the success of its 2026 edition. Held on March 21 and 22, 2026, the event hosted over 17,000 runners from 68 countries. Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeutis stated that the city has established itself as a hub for international sports. XM Co-CEO Stavri Morti and Board President Spyros Spyrou highlighted the importance of voluntary work and the event's social dimension. During the ceremony, awards were given for social contributions, including recognition for Despina Roussou, footballer Leonidas Kyriakou, and para-athlete Alexandros Skourtis for their roles in a Multiple Sclerosis awareness campaign. The transport organization EMEL was also acknowledged for its contributions. The marathon continues to be recognized as the largest sports event in Cyprus.
