Police investigations continue into OEDA Pentakomo and Trimiklini water diversion case
Attorney General George Savvides confirmed that the Legal Service is currently awaiting the results of ongoing police investigations regarding two separate cases. The first case concerns the findings of an investigative committee into the design, management, and implementation of the Pentakomo Integrated Waste Management Facility (OEDA), which was referred to the Legal Service in late 2023. The second case involves the Anti-Corruption Authority’s report on the illegal diversion of water from the Kouris River to supply a fish farm in Trimiklini. Following a study by Legal Service officials, both matters were forwarded to the police to determine if sufficient evidence exists to support criminal charges. During a press conference at the Supreme Court in Nicosia, Savvides declined to confirm whether specific individuals, such as the former Auditor General, are targets of these inquiries. He emphasized that the Legal Service will evaluate the investigation findings once they are complete to decide whether to bring the cases before a court. The investigations are proceeding to establish if potential criminal offenses have been committed. No further details on the specific accused parties were provided by the Attorney General.
